I've been spiraling out of control headlong down a Billy Strings wormhole. And that is leading me towards Doc Watson. All I can do when I pick up a guitar is work on Tennessee Stud and this version of Summertime.

But this is a PSA post to let you know about this:
https://www.thecapitoltheatre.com/e...ngs-the-deja-vu-experiment-6-night-livestream

Billy and band are doing a 6-night run at the "Cap" in Port Chester, NY. This theatre was one of Jerry Garcia's favorite places to play. These live-streaming shows are meant to invoke, revisit, remember? A run of 6 shows by the Dead 50-years ago in 1971. ( I went to one of those shows.) First night, Thursday, is free. Follow the links. I am sure there will be some Dead covers and covers of songs the Dead covered... as well as Billy's "space grass" jams.

I have to say I am one who just doesn't "get the Dead" However, I do think that Billy Strings is probably the "next big thing" if not
already "THE Thing." He is, however, the poster boy for what happens when you decide not to wear those big hoop earrings through
your earlobes anymore 😒

Saw him live 2 years ago here in town. They did this song. His band members are no slouch either. And who did this kid steal that old Bluegrass voice from?

Saw him at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville about three years ago. He was opening for Del McCoury on Tuesday Bluegrass Night. First I had ever heard of him. I came away thinking, "he is the best flatpicker I have ever seen in person."

Markus King was the young guy the blew me away with his performance at the Peachfest in 2019 in Scranton, PA. Had plans to see him at Sweetwater and a few other venues before the pandemic cancellations.

Sounds like some excellent young Guitarslinger are out that connect with the music that keeps me groovin!

We saw Markus King at Telluride Blues and Brews fest in2018 and again in 2019 at the aforementioned Capitol Theatre just down the road a piece. At that show his band opened and then he was one of the guitarists for an iteration of The Black Crowes.

Here's them 2 boys pickin' a Merle Haggard tune:
