I had opportunity to try this as I tuned my G37 with the repaired headstock down first one step, then two, trying to find a good range to sing the songs I love with the chord shapes I know them in. I ended up with a set of 13-56s, with 110 lbs of pull a full two steps down as opposed to 177 lbs with the 10-47s I had always used.

Without having checked the vid, I myself did a similar excercise for Slk&Steel on the F65ce a few years back. One thing I noted was that the 3 "big" makes I compared (D'A, GHS, Martin) each had slightly differing tensions by gauge, maybe 1-1.5 lbs IIRC, which I attributed to slight variations in core size/shape and winding alloy blends.

Only point is I'm asking if there's any ref to that issue. It could add up to 5 lbs on 6 strings. I just used the maker's charts, although D'A's seemed to be out of commission a couple of years back.

Good general guide though.

I’ve used that calculator in reviews, though those reviews have yet to be published.
