Hi All,
I have a Guild Starfire V and am gonna put new strings on it for the first time since it was set up. There’s 11’s on it now but I was thinking of trying 10’s, what do Ya’ll think?

Thanks, I have a set of GHS Boomers 10/46 laying around so I thought I’d get ya’lls opinion. I know the factory strings this guitar with 11’s, I put 10’s on both my Gretch Electromatic’s and like the way they play and sound, so ok I’ll give it a shot.

Well its done, I figured as long as I was re stringing it I’d go ahead and lemon oil the fret board and give her a good waxin too.
the 10’s play nice and sound great, but so did the 11’s😁😁😁. Those Starfires are great guitars I don’t think it matters too much weather you run 10’s or 11’s.👍👍👍👍

Many advise 11-48 on archtops, But I have gone to 10-46 with my old hands and it's much better for me. I haven't found an issue with it.

I recently tried a set of 9s for the first time in about 30 years and have no complaints. I like GHS Brite Flats.

I’ve gone back and forth between 10s and 11s for years and years. Now I’m experimenting with D'addario 10.5-48. A great happy medium for me.

Edit: On my archtop X-500 I prefer heavier strings and currently use John Pearse pure nickel 12s.

I'm using D'Addario 10s on the Guild - could probably go to 11s.
For both my Epiphone Dot (335) and Epiphone ES-175 I use D'Addario 11s with a wound 3rd.
I use 10s on everything else.

I use DR Pure Blues on all of my guild electrics as I like the warm sound. I used to only use 11s. In the last year I have tested the 10s and have not felt they sounded “thinner“ than 11s and they are easier to play. I now only use DR Pure Blues 10s. I am sure there are other strings out there that sound as good or maybe better but so far these are my favorite for the sound I want.
