I think it's just the angle of the picture. Guild went through a couple of body shapes in the 50's, and this one looks right for a NYC guitar from what I can see. Nice looking guitar, shame about the Schaller-alike tuners IMO.

I agree. I've got a '53 that is similar.

If it's anything like mine, then someone will be very happy. :)

Man, I need a new pic of that guitar... diapers kind of take away from the coolness of it. Which is odd, because we don't have kids, so I have no idea what they are doing on our table.

You might want to hang on to them... you're not getting any younger.

Oh yeah, I think that's from the seller I bought it from. That's a good pic. Thanks! :)

It's actually kind of difficult to photograph properly. The finish kind of plays tricks with lights. It has a more solid color finish in real life. I always thought those reddish orange finishes were really pretty. It reminds me of fall. It also looks a little like the rare Rick finish AutumnGlo. 8)

I have a '58 X-175 and (I guess foolishly) put a set of Schaller machine heads on it when I bought it back in the mid-80s. IIRC I didn't think much of the ones that were on there, and thought at the time that they didn't work very well. Damned if I know what happened to the originals; that was a few moves ago. Is there a way to source these without spending obscene amounts of money?

Thanks bud!

Man, the more I look at the '55 X-175 in the OP, the more I kind of want it. I always scoffed at the idea of having two of the same guitars, since I'm not a gigging musician. However, it would be really cool to have a blond version. Plus, if it's anything like mine, than it's a great guitar. I could keep the flats on my '53 and wounds on that '55. 8) I think he's got too high a price in mind. He's still got it on CL for $2500, which is a good bit more than I paid for my '53. :(

ehhh... I need a new mower anyway.
