The piece itself was a little over my head but that was some incredibly talented playing!

Ms Jones is someone whom I have followed for a number of years online. She has grown in confidence, poise, and strength. She is a monster. She is primarily a "classical" guitarist, but her repertoire extends to Latin American music, "modern" music such as the piece above, and arrangements of pop music. Writers and arrangers seem to be lined up to get their pieces in front of her. Some of the worlds best luthiers are lined to get their guitars into her hands, primarily as loaners, I would assume.

Check out her other Youtube stuff. Be prepared to fall in love.

Lots more ...

Artists like her give me hope to believe that humanity has a chance 🥰

Thoughts regarding the seat might not be fit for a family-friendly discussion forum . . . :sneaky:🥰:sneaky:😅

Wow. "Blowin' in the Wind" was mesmerizing. I'm taking a deep breath and going back for more.

I got her CD, Open Sky, in the mail this morning from Germany.

With enclosed thank you card.

With enclosed promotional sticker.

Signed in silver gel pen. Sigh, I may never wash my hands again.

The music is great, too, if your tastes lean towards this sort of stuff. A nice Egberto Gismonti cover!

Yes. It has been interesting following her work for some time. She has developed so much. Scary that she seems so young.

You might also enjoy Chrystian Dozza. A nice guy. A brilliant player.

Thanks, Canard. I'll check him out. I still have to finish listening to the other Stephanie Jones pieces when I have dedicated time. :C)

OK, any bets on the beautiful, wildly-figured side wood? I'm thinking cocobolo...

Often she will give information about the guitars and luthiers who made them. "Show more" on the Youtube page. You can go to the luthier's page and browse.

The most amazing guitar I have heard her use had plum wood sides and back. LOUD!!!! Plum is extremely resonant. It is often used for wooden flutes. It makes killer archtop bridges. But because it twists and splits internally when logs are curing, it is dangerous to cut, very dangerous, with anything other than a bandsaw. It is very difficult to get pieces of any size. I have some stock left from when I had to take down my prune plum trees because of black-knot. I take my life in my hands when I run any pieces across my table saw even if the wood looks sound on the outside. The heartwood is drop-dead gorgeous - polishes up like glass. I would love to know how the luthier got pieces large enough for sides and a a back.

Jones will be touring North America with the International Guitar Night show in 2022. This annual tour/event is usually a lot of fun. Typically four very different guitarists are chosen for the tour. They each have solo slots, and then there are slots where they jam in different combinations. Sometimes local musicians known to the players are invited on stage, too. Jones should come off well in the jams - she was once a Jazz sax player in both big bands and smaller groups -- probably knows her changes and scales well. Django's great-grandnephew Lulo Reinhardt is the official Guest Host of the show. He is always a very charming stage presence.
