Hello! My first post here. I need your opinion... I happily own a Telecaster and a Gretsch hollowbody... I love both but I can't use the Gretsch hollowbody at stage volume with gain because produces a lot of feedback (nothing strange because it's a full hollow body)... I'm thinking to add a third guitar, so I'm looking for a Guild Starfire IV st semi hollowbody Newark serie. I really love the style of the guitar but I can't find it in local stores. So I have this question: does a Guild Starfire IV st semi hollowbody create a lot feedback? Relating feedback is it comparable to a Gibson es 335? Thanks everybody for any information... I play electric blues, rock'n'roll, classic rock

Welcome to LTG! The Starfire IV is a good choice to avoid feedback. I don't think it is better or worse than the ES-335 with regard to feedback.

Starfire IV and V and VI have the same internal construction with the big center block and there should be no issues with feedback.

Thanks for your kind replies... If on the forum there are some starfire iv's owners I'd like to hear their direct opinion...

I owned a ES335 for many years. It was a 1979 with a harp tailpiece. I used it in many venues, bands, and played basically classic rock and some progressive rock. I never had feedback issues due to the semi hollow nature of the guitar. It was a known that a fixed bridge added a bit of sustain, and made the guitar more like a solid body. The design of the SSF lV is pretty comparable to the 335. The guitar is basically a solid body guitar with hollow wings.

Yes, I agree in general, but I know a guitarist who say to have feedback issues with his semi hollow (is an epiphone) so maybe it could be that some models are more prone to feedback than others... This is actually my curiosity about the beautiful SF IV...
