Hello, hope everyone is staying safe & well.

I have recently re-strung my Starfire 1V-12string with my favourite string of choice "Rotosound R30EL" 10-48.

I noticed that the guitar is supplied with D'addario EXL150 10-46, but the string tension (according to Stewmac's "string tension guide, that I assume is calculated at A440 concert pitch) is considerably different. The D'addario's come in at 95.6 Kg, whilst the Rotosound's come in at 123.68 Kg.

I have adjusted the truss rod and set up/intonation are perfect but I am wondering if the increase in tension will compromise the guitar in any way.

I do not want to lower the pitch of the guitar and, I do use these strings on my Danelectro without any issues.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated...thank you............Brian.

If it's not tweaking out the neck, like obviously bowing it regardless of truss rod tension which has to be maxed out to handle it, then you should be fine.

I suppose in time, the extra tug could contribute to neck angle issue, which seems to happen anyway.

How old is your guitar? An older guitar is probably more at risk than one of the new ones.

Thank you. The guitar is one of the new "Newark St". models, bought new around three years ago. Pretty certain the truss rod is okay, it only required between 1/4 to 1/3 turn to obtain the desired relief for the new strings.
I was just concerned that the difference in tensions seemed too great. I have compared tensions (using the Stewmac calulator) and there are many other 12 string sets that come in heavier, so it seems the Roto's fall somewhere in the middle.

It's like putting bigger tires on a car, there's a benefit, and a consequence.

I wonder what Guild tech support would say over the phone, or does that even exist these days?
