I need a knob for a ‘70s Bluesbird. Is there a good place to find one or do the new Newark knobs fit them as well?

Any info appreciated

Newark St. knobs have different spline patterns but you can make them work if you don't care about damaging them such that they won't work right on Newark St. guitars.

Try @hansmoust: http://www.guitarchives.nl/guitarsgalore/ or Ken Nash: http://www.theguitarmechanic.com/GuildKnobsPickguards.html

You can also just troll Ebay or Reverb, but be warned that I've caught many sellers trying to pawn off inexpensive Newark St. knobs as vintage.

Be warned that vintage Guild knobs can get pricey as they're hard to come by. Good luck!

As far as I know @Knash is out of stock on them. (Looking at his webpage he only shows Tone is sold out, so he might have a Volume one left). And it depends if Chris is in the US as Ken only ships inside US.

Volume, I saw that on the Guild website - separate listings for Vol and Tone and kinda thought it was a joke, how are they different?

They have text labels for Volume and Tone. They are metric repros of the older style of Guild knobs. The newer ones during the Fender-Guild era just have numbers and no text.

They actually changed to numbers only much earlier than this. My 1979 S-300 knobs are no text and numbered 1-10, rather than 1-9

Oh, you're right, POD. I always thought they were changed with the Fender takeover. I know that in the late 70s, some of the electrics also got those black, silver-topped knobs with the pointers on them.

Thanks for the correction!
