Well, I went out and got me a set of Elixirs light gauge to put on my poor fractured F-412. While restringing, I noticed the bridge is also lifting up, so I tuned down to D.

I'm having a little trouble playing it. It's not the action, exactly, it's more like the strings are positioned weird. For instance, the high E strings are way too close to the edge of the fretboard, so my pinkie finger slips off the end if I'm not careful. And perhaps this is a problem with the nut, but the strings are way far apart toward the sound hole, but very close together as you get closer to the nut.

Anyway, I managed this sound clip. Forgive the tuning; the strings are new and I don't think I can do any better right now:

Gold star to whomever names the tune.

Thanks to everyone,

Barbara

Bits n Pieces or
After The Crash or
The Dream That Fell Apart or
Crushed Against The Floor

I don't know really, but I think it should be something descriptive that, you know, would function as a closure on this episode, yet with reverence to this bruised black beauty. Are you on the same wavelength as me on that, Barb?

a pretty tune for sure. and A nice tone as well. Too bad about all of the problems your having. How about some video of your playing as well as audio somtime? :)

I would say it's sort of a mix between 'Morning Morgantown' and 'Little Green'. Maybe a few others as well?

Bingo! You get the star. It's Little Green.

Oh, great clever one, you get 2 gold stars for wit. Mine seems to have abandoned me at the moment. :)

Cheers, Barbara! Maybe that wit of yours sank along with your heart - I know mine should have, so I don't blame you.

Beautiful playing, Barbara. Joni Mitchell is one of my most favorite artists, and your style and skill is more than worthy. I was going to guess "Circle Game." I knew that was wrong, but I was sure it was a Joni.

The guitar has a lovely voice, as well. But I'd still send it back. If the neck got damaged just a little during that shipping accident, that could account for the strings being shifted too far to the treble side.
