A recent thread made me realize that I have never learned Stairway To Heaven.

Until fairly recently asked to add it to a set list for a gig, I had never learned Blackbird. (Lately, I play it almost every time I practice.)

Give a Little Bit is one I should have in my tool kit to play on my 12. I play another Supertramp song I like better called Even In the Quietest Moments.

Any iconic songs you "should" play that you don't?

I have been meaning to learn the solos from 25 or 6 to 4 for 30 years.

I've been trying to learn some new songs during the pandemic "lock-down". I've been working on the Kate Wolf song "Across The Great Divide". It's just cowboy chords... but the 2nd guitar part on the recording has some great chord embellishments. She had such a smooth, relaxed way of delivering a song.

I've also been working on the Tom Waits song "The Heart of Saturday Night" in dropped-D tuning.

Fire and Rain is one I learned recently, but using a pick. Next I’d love to learn You’ve Got a Friend.

Pretty much any song that I learn, I don't get to the point where I'm proficient with it. So, I will forever play them sloppily. It's the curse of needing to quickly move on to something else. Or ADD. Or both. But the one song I'd really like to nail down is "Dance with Me" played on solo acoustic guitar.

I realized there are a lot of songs where I know a riff but maybe not the chorus and certainly not the bridge. So I am digging into my list of "partials" and trying to learn the whole song. Talking Heads seems to be getting most of the effort - Psycho Killer and Take Me to the River could now survive an encounter with the public, for example.

I have played at jams for years with people that play "Across the Great Divide."
With the shut down and no jams, I have decided to learn the song for myself. It is one of the best songs that I have ever heard.
I also decided to learn the Beatles, Let It Be, and be able to play it without the words in front of me.

Currently learning Dylan's "To Make You Feel My Love," I have the guitar parts down and almost have the lyrics memorized.

Same with Tom Waits' "I Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You."

Both these songs have simple, beautiful guitar progressions.

I have been learning Help On the Way/Slipknot by the Grateful Dead. It is not easy. I have all the parts down and am now working on getting them up to speed.

My focus on learning new songs lately has mainly been on ukulele. In particular I wanted to learn Hawaiian songs and had a couple ready for performance just before the pandemic kicked in. That just killed the mood and it's just this week that I started playing again trying to learn Fly me to the Moon with the nice jazzy chords.

Finally got around to learning Little Wing (original Hendrix version) during the lockdown. That one's been on my to-do list for a long time.

I just learned Her Majesty. There’s a lot packed into that 23 second song.

Getting the A double hammer on and pull off to sound right is a real challenge. Paul does it effortlessly, and (almost) no one on YouTube gets it right.

awagner, I assume you're fingerpicking "Her Majesty."

Correct, although I am also “brushing“ the strings with my index finger, trying to emulate the same technique used in Blackbird and Mother Nature’s Son.

What never ceases to amaze me about this beautiful song is that Browne wrote it when he was only 16. I find that totally astounding.
