I do not even have a record player anymore, sold that in a 2017 garage sale. But I always kept this one album. You?

Still have, well, over 1000 vinyl 33⅓ in their original jackets -- everything from the Inkspots, Big Bands, R&R, POP, Country, and Bluegrass. Then about 50--100 78s with no jackets. Have a 1972 Panasonic Stereo, turntable, cassette player/recorder andAM FM radio that I bought at Fort Riley PX just before I was discharged from 1st Infantry Division. Have kept it working and play a few every now and then. Great sounds.

Some years ago I sent a Winthrop all-inclusive unit (turntable - stackable!, 8-track player, and radio) to the landfill because of lack of space. Boy, do I regret that!!! I kept the speakers. Each one is about 2 feet high, and very heavy. I sure wish I had the unit back. I think it was called a stereo receiver, but I really don't remember.

Fun fact - before I learned to play guitar, I played xylophone, marimba, vibraphone and concert bells. Because I grew up listening to jazz (and opera), this album is easily the most sentimental since it's my dad's original 1956 issue and Lionel Hampton was a musical hero and inspiration.

All gone. Including a large collection of Beatles bootlegs. Seemed like a good idea at the time, but in hindsight, a mistake.

For some reason I have 2 copies. This album is absolutely insane.

They were both disciples of the guru Sri Chinmoy at the time. The album title is Chinmoy's philosophy, which focused on "love, devotion and surrender".

I am a big John McLaughlin fan, and to a lesser extent, a Santana fan.

The song in your link is of course a tribute to the John Coltrane.

I have several thousand LPs, result of 20 years in record retailing. Most are still in original jackets, although an unexpected water problem damaged a dozen or so. The LPs themselves are fine, just cleaned them and played them to check. how they sounded and tracked.

Can't tell on my PC! But their styles are different - McLaughlin much more staccato without much bending, Santana more fluid. Slightly different guitar tone, too.

You should check out John McLaughlin’s band he formed after Mahavishnu Orchestra, Shakti. Very middle eastern influenced.
