Not many pictures existing of the Burnside SM-1 Famous or SM-2 Wizard! The OPs guitar looks pretty nice even if it is assembled from different brands.
I have no literature of both SM-1 and SM-2 models so don't know what the differences in the bodies were.
Here are some Burnside "tele" style pictures I found, I believe those are both SM-2 Wizards, but they have very different appointments...So who knows...

Guido used to have that body with a broken off headstock:

Thank you For the information. I love guild and have owned a couple of nice acoustics. A F-55 I purchased in 1969 and a D25 I bought in 1979.

This guitar plays and sounds great. I would say the sound is very close to my PRS CE 22. My Shur Custom Classic Pro plays better but doesn’t sound as good.

I’m glad I didn’t sell it to someone as a Guild.

Thanks again. Great forum.

I’ve owned a few Burnsides and some have been very surprising!

The body looks like it might be solid ash . . . that would explain the hefty weight.

I definitely like the look of it! The middle pickup might have been replaced with that blade version.

Since Burnside was a Guild brand made in Asia (at Cort, later Cor-Tek in Korea) it's at least related. And the neck on your guitar is a Guild made in USA neck.

where did the name Burnside come from?

In the Guild context, I don't know. But Ambrose E. Burnside was a Union General in the American Civil War and was both Governor of Rhode Island and a United States Senator from Rhode Island. So perhaps somebody from Westerly, Rhode Island liked the name?

Burnside was a classic example of rising to the level of incompetence. He invented a semi-automatic firearm before the war but lacked the business skills to produce it and make any money. He commanded the Army of the Potomac and was demoted back to commanding the Ninth Corps and he later was unofficially relieved from that command as well. It is generally agreed that the word "sideburns" was coined to describe his facial hair, so at least he has somewhat of a legacy besides an equestrian pigeon roost.

Perhaps there's mileage in naming guitars after incompetent or morally questionable military leaders. I'm trying to think of some more :)

Perhaps Godin could launch a Marshall Pétain line?
