For sale only now. No longer for trade.
After spending a few months with this sunburst beauty, I've decided she's ready to move on down the line. A fantastic bass to be sure, but sound-wise it has too much in common with my 1970 to justify bogarting it long-term. This is the relatively rare combo of maple and sunburst. Slim, fast neck. Original Hagstrom Bisonic pickup, hardware, and hardshell case. Potentiometers, capacitors, and switch have been replaced. Healthy truss-rod. Does have the usual cosmetic wear that you'd expect from a 53 year old instrument; dings and dents here and there, slight shrinking of binding in cut-aways (but no loose binding), and somewhat shunken headstock veneer. All pretty common with these old Guilds. Strung up with Thomastik Infeld flatwounds.
When I first got it, the frets needed some TLC so I had my tech give it a proper crowning and leveling.
After this I removed the "tone-suck" circuit, to open up the big beautiful natural tone of the Bisonic. I kept the latching switch in the circuit though and added an alternate tone-capacitor. The switch now lets you select between the normal bass tone control function and a much subtler one, that strictly cuts the top end treble and leaves the high mids more in-tact. The original tone-suck inductor will be included in the case. These mods were detailed in the following thread, complete with sound clips: https://letstalkguild.com/ltg/index.php?threads/the-definitive-tone-suck-slaying-thread.201379/
*When pressing the tone switch it sometimes doesn't grab, but once switched it stays switched. Hard to explain but there's a super simple trick to it and once you get a feel for it, you'll know how to press it down so it grabs every time.
