So are the old 2x12 Quantum bass cabs any good?

I ran into one at a local pawnshop for $220 and was looking for a new cab to downsize from my old Carvin 4x12 that’s just too much for what I’m doing (in the year 2020 I’m not sure if a 4x12 is all that practical anymore to be honest but I can only speak for myself.) and thought maybe this Guild cab would be a nice addition. What were they constructed with? Particle board or ply? I wished they’d have let me take the back off to see what speakers it had but for the whatever reason the counter guy said no. If it ticks all the boxes I’ll probably roll back there cash and screw driver in hand and tell em if they wanted it gone today they’d better let me take the back off to inspect the speakers. I really dig the aesthetics and it’s a cheap 2x12!

Is is the earlier "blond or beige" color or is it "black" tolex?
If "black" its plywood. If "blond /beige" its likely particle board.
The stock speakers are pretty bland sounding for guitar. They are bass speakers and the high ends rolls off pretty quickly.
If you get the cab anticipate changing the speakers.

Was the black covered one. I was asking because I vaguely recall seeing a Guild head that was particleboard. If it was a head I probably wouldn’t care all that much but I prefer the cabs be ply or solid. I had a Ampeg 4x12 that was particleboard and it sounded less than stellar and it actually warped!
