There is a lot of just downright bad information about coffee on the Internet, a lot of it written by people who have never actually had a good espresso.

I think it was a coffee shop or online seller in UK. I suppose they know what they're talking about, more than I would anyway.

And I've never had an espresso, good or bad.

I can make a really good espresso at home. Rancilio Silvia machine and Rocky grinder. The grinder is key. The Silvia can make a great espresso with the grind from the Rocky. Where the Silvia falls short is foaming milk. I can’t really get a true cappuccino, just can’t get stiff enough peaks with the single small boiler. My wife and I enjoy our mini lattes on the deck in the summer anyway.
