Hi,

Just wanting to see the variety of grain width and pattern on the newer Guild Adi tops.

Here's mine. (2006 D-50 BS)

Dave,
my picture will have to wait until I sell my JF-55 and get a D-50BS.
By the way yours looks great.
Are you still liking the sound of it?
How is it holding up to the Martins for that Bluegrass sound?

Can't post a pic, but the grain on my '06 D-40BJ looks very similar to your D-50BS.

I'm picking up the D-28 & 0000-28H next weekend, after a neck reset & fret job on the D and a center seam crack/finish repair on the quad.

I've been sitting around this weekend comparing the Guild and and Blueridge (Sitka over solid Brazilian). I'm looking forward to listening to the differences between the three dreads. The D-28 has been out of the house at the shop since a few days after I got the Guild. With the Martin back in fighting trim it'll be really interesting comparing the 3. I'll be doing some sound clip recording comparisons for posting.

As to generally how I'm liking the Guild - A LOT!

6L6 - no camera handy? We'll have to get together and compare tops.

I have a camera, but no idea how to get pictures from it onto the computer screen!

Happy to get together and compare any time.

Hi Dave congrats on the D-50. I remember reading your thread about it on the UMGF after you bought it, a few weeks after I bought mine. Sounds like you're impressed with yours as well. Just joined this forum and can't figure out how to post pics or else I'd show you my adi top. Finally learned how to do it on the UMGF but this forum is a little different.

Thanks Gents!
It seems a common factor in the Adi that Guild is using that the grain lines have a lot more contrasting coloration than older Adi did, or that Adi different makers did. I think I'll have to delve into this more over in the section at UMGF dedicated to woods.
I appreciate the pics!
Keep 'em coming!
Dave

p.s. Jeff - I continue to be impressed! I just got my D-28 back after a neck reset, new saddle and complete fret job, along with my 0000-28H after some center seam repair. I got the D-50 the week before those two went away for a couple months. Now that they're back, it is going to be very interesting deciding which to take where. They all three sound distinct and they all three sound REALLY good! The Guild neck is a tad more fatiguing.

It looks like there is some commmonality in that all the photos exhibit a wide grain spacing likely due to young trees now being harvested; I wonder how this feature effects tone. Has anyone had a chance to compare these newer Guilds to the same model with old growth adi tops?

I don't think they were made with Adi in the past. At least I thought that was what Hans said. I'm totally open to correction.
