FWIW, found a great way to secure a guitar in order to work on it. A benchrest (available at most shooting-oriented stores) is a sand-filled leather bag with "ears" that do a great job holding the neck...

Bench rest was almost twice as expensive at $22. The Planet Waves model sure looks portable; but the bench rest weighs in at 5 lbs and I like the leather. Hmmm, maybe I need both, just in case... :D

Almost guaranteed the extra 11 bucks is worthwhile. Nice tip Russ, thanks.

You know you're getting old when you evaluate tools for their resting potential.

You can get those "shooter rests" in real-tree as well... these are the sandbags you can get at walmart. I have found that using two of them is perfect for electric or acoustic... and especially handy for doing fret-work!

Looks like it would work for a quick nap too!
Yeah, versatile. Looks better padded for protection; I think I agree with Jeff, "Almost guaranteed the extra 11 bucks is worthwhile."

I think Stew-mac sells that padded cradle for the neck. I haven't tried that, but it looks easy to fabricate.

That would make a great bumper sticker, but only 'we' would know what it meant!
I used to have a bumper sticker that said 'Too bad ignorance isn't painful'
Another good sticker would be 'You think I'm a bad driver, you should see me putt'.
....no veeeer here........  Steffan
