Seems Weird to me

Has anyone seen this phenomenon on a guitar before? Is it that much of a phenonmenon?
There's a Gibson J-50 on Ebay where you can actually see the outline of the bracing through the top of the guitar. I've never seen this before.

A friend of mine bought a J-200 that did that in the early 70s. I think it had something to do with the wood not being properly cured and I seem to remember that he got a new top under warranty.

That is fascinating. I wonder if we're seeing something misshapen from the braces, or is it just the glue (perhaps) that discolored it... I'd be very concerned if this top was actually misshapen.

There are any number of possibilities I suppose. I already own a great 70's model J-40 and buying another one would be way down at the bottom of my list. I got my sights set on a Guild D-40 to D-55 anyway. Long range sights I'm afraid but still.........
