I think this would pair well with this:

My mother used to make Tuna Fish in Jello and I loved it. My wife absolutely didn't believe me, so one year while up in NH for Thanksgiving she asked my mom and they surprised me with a nice tuna fish in jello mold. My wife was horrified when I actually ate it. :)

I'm almost afraid to ask, but what flavor was the jello?

Unless the tuna had mayo in it, that sounds disgusting.

Was it as good as you remembered it being?

Just wondering because I used to like Fizzies as a kid. Many years later my much younger cousin had some. I hadn't seen them in years and was happy to try them again. It was horrid, like fruit flavored baking soda in water. I did not remember them being that awful!

Pretty sure original issue Fizzies were pretty salty. But they were loaded with cyclamates to mask the flavor

Cherry or Lime were both acceptable.

Unless the tuna had mayo in it, that sounds disgusting.

Mayonnaise is a disgusting demon-spawned substance that I loathe, so no.

Was it as good as you remembered it being?

What's funny is that I've always been a fairly picky eater, so I have no idea how that made it into the "OK" column to begin with.

I'm not sure it's something I'd eagerly look forward to, but it tasted as I expected. :)

I was eating with a friend from NY and Pittsburg who's transplanted to FL and she's an old equestrian from back in the day. She fairly worldly and comes from a Jewish background and has lived among the fairly affluent most of her life. So we're at this coffee shop at South Point hotel/casino where they have most of the equestrian stuff here. 3 arenas and way cool spaces and a huge portion of NFR (national finals rodeo) was held there. So we meet up and i'm trying to think of what the hell I'm gonna order because i'm not that hungry and she orders a BLT with extra bacon (obviously not Kosher) and so i ordered the hummus plate with veggies instead of pita. She kept looking at my stuff and said, "It looks amazing but I'm allergic to mayonnaise!!" HUH?? And then I had to explain what hummus was.... and she was so clueless. Hooo boy. You just never know...

But yeah, I just want some really good fish and some tartar sauce. (sorry Gary)..LOL!!

Love it!

My family laughs at me because I don't do condiments. I don't put sauces on things so I don't do tartar sauce. I don't like mustard, ketchup, mayo, or anything like that. The closest I come is hot sauce, which I love, probably because it's usually salty, but I do love the heat. For me, the only thing I regularly add to food is salt. I positively crave salt. The only acceptable addition to steak is salt. Yum. For those worrying about my blood pressure, I monitor it pretty closely and the only time it's been over 120/80 was when I took too many Celebrex for too long. As a kid I remember eating sand because I liked the salty taste.

The closest I'll come to mayo is Béarnaise sauce, but even then only fresh from a place that knows what they're doing.

As a teenager I had a chunk of white salt block in my room. You know, the kind horses lick. I used a brick to knock a piece off and took it home; had it for years. I may or may not on occasion still taste the salt before it goes out for the horses and cows, but only the white ones. The red ones taste like iron, umm, or so I've heard.

Oh, and salt is one of the major food groups, along with chocolate, sugar, caffeine, pizza, and bacon.

I can confirm that the white salt licks are better. :)

I also have a memory of licking rock salt at the A&P. Weird.
