January 2nd here!

Sometimes it worked to my advantage. When my car needed two tires I got the first two for Christmas and then the second two for my Birthday! (Yes, we were one of the practical gift families!)

The other thing that happened is there would be family movies taken at Christmas. Then the 50' 8mm movie reel would be "used up" during my Birthday. So now, I have movies from my Birthday's while my siblings don't!

When you're showing horses in the junior division, the age you are on January 1st is the age you compete in all year. So your birthday gives you almost a year advantage over those born in December! It's just one of those weird things that I remember from days gone by.
