I caught Joe Pug last night at a local venue. For those who might not be aware of this talented musician, check out my previous thread: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22991&hilit=joe+pug
Anyway, the guy can perform live! He is a talented musician, but where I think he really shines is his song writing. His songs are filled with visual imagery that you feel you are right there with him as he retells a story. Some songs have metaphors so complex that you could extract several different meanings. Talented song writing that I don't hear too often these days, especially from newer artists.
Why am I telling you this? He retells his stories using his Guilds to provide a musical backdrop. I had mentioned before that he plays a JF30, but he also plays....a D25 (mahogany stained archback with a silkscreen logo). He had both on stage last night. He played the JF30 for a couple of songs, but stuck mostly to the D25. The jumbo sounded fine, but the D25 was phenomenal. Crisp, clean, loud, just had great stage presence. I took a couple of snapshots of very poor quality for you to enjoy.
He started his tour yesterday so if he is in your area, I would highly encourage you to check him out. Tickets are only $10 as part of his official "Ten Dollar Tour." Here is a link to the tour dates: http://www.joepugmusic.com/tour/
