My Grandfather lived in Fairlawn, one highlight of spending time at the Grandfolks' place was talking Pop into a trip to the Paramus store! I don't think it took a lot of arm twisting, he was a fan of the time too. I bought a bunch of effects pedals there and a killer Gauss 15" speaker for my B15-n fliptop bass amp (stock square magnet one was farting out).

The Ash store in Paramus, NJ closed a couple of years ago. It seems as if they're liquidating in preparation for going online only sales. The Paramus store had been going downhill for a long time. It was also located at a very dangerous spot on Route 4, where cars merge from an entrance ramp. Every time you tried to make a right turn into the parking lot, you took your life in your hands. I almost got hit a few times.

DrumBob,

I know (or knew) that Route 4 Paramus store well! Couldn't agree more about A.) it going downhill for the past few years, and B.) the dance of death involved in getting into their parking lot.

I'd add that getting out was about as bad. There being no shoulder, you'd wait and wait for a break in traffic, and then floor it to avoid being hit by the steady stream of oncoming cars.

An article in today's "New Haven Register" mostly of interest to the local area, but some interesting observations.
>Some of those who did go bargain hunting said they were disappointed, both at what they perceived to be dwindling stock and at the lack of big bargains.

Most items appeared to be marked down 5 percent, with some specialty items given larger discounts, such as a 20 percent markdown for harmonicas.<
I wonder if the discounts will increase as they get closer to the closing (set for May).

You are right. Getting out of the lot was almost as treacherous as pulling in. There was no room for error. I stopped going there because it was so dangerous.
