Hello all! I've scoured the s100 sticky and all the links are dead - also searched to no avail.

I recently acquired an S100 and I love it! But, something I noticed that might be a little odd. Mine seems to have two string guide bridge block things (yeah) and every other ive seen only has one. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot! Sorry for the awful picture, im away from the guitar and this is all I have.

Picture here

For some reason, someone must have added a second one. Very strange. Cool guitar, though so congrats.

I'm guessing yours might be a pre 75/76 where the the tailpiece was further back but someone liked the idea of of the tailpiece closer to the bridge (like in the later guitars) and so added one in.

Doesn't look too funky and if you take one of them out there will be holes to fill. BTW, welcome to the board. In no time you will likely add some more Guilds to your arsenal.

I can tell that's not the original bridge either, but if it plays and sounds great, then no worries!

Thank you all! It sincerely doesn't bother me, it has been done very well - nicely aligned, affects nothing. Also I was told it was '71 for anyone interested. Will date based on the serial when I'm home later today. Thank you for the warm welcome/assistance!

That's funky…but if increasing the break angle over the bridge saddles was the goal, it oughta work.

I have a '71 in dark cherry finish. No phase switch. Killer low-wind HB-1s. Only one tailpiece, though. ☺️

Y'know, I actually think this is a '73. Seems like you have one too! Guitar siblings!

Yeah, the two S-100s complement each other. The '71 is bright & ringy while the '73 is mellower but with the option to get skronky or quacky via the phase switch (and volume knob settings).

I like it! I used to have a 1972 S-90 that really didn't have much angle over the saddles. so I get why one would think to do that mod. I only got rid of mine because of the tiny neck it had. The thing sounded excellent.

Edit: Nice amp too!

I meant tailpiece, of course, but now let's justify the title. Anyone making any good replacement drop-in bridges for these? The saddles on mine are worse for wear.

Just an aside, if you haven't seen, I fixed all the links in the S100 stickey, so enjoy. :)

You might see what can be ordered from ABM-Mueller, the original company. I know they used to have a pretty extensive catalog. IIRC, these have a non-standard post spread that makes it tough to drop in anything aftermarket. That having been said, I recently saw an S-100 for sale that somebody seems to have managed to thread an ABR-1 onto the factory studs. I've also seen one with Leo Quann Badass crammed onto the factory studs, but it looked pretty sketchy. Hans would know

I had a closer look at the bridge. I thought that the bridges with the little cutouts along the back edge were designed that way for the increased break angle of having the tail piece closer to the bridge.
If that is the original bridge, then the tail piece further away might be the modification?

The height adjustment screws on the bridge aren’t like any I’ve seen though so they may be a replacement.
