Just realized that the drummer in these clips is Jay Bellerose . . . he is a very fine player, with a deft touch.

What a fabulous band!

I've been so busy w/ work and now traveling/family bird day....that I've only been able to give a 1/2 assed listen to the new album so far, but several people whose tastes I know and whose opinions I fully respect have said they've spent last weekend cranking the album on a loop. Everyone has said they actually like it much more than Raising Sand based primarily on the production, in that RS's sound in general is more flat than this one. This ensemble begs for a chock load of dynamics, and this one really delivers. Or so I'm told.

I'll be giving it a thorough cranking several times this weekend. Looking forward. (Btw, Target is selling a cd version w/ 2 bonus tracks. 👍🏻)

Bought the vinyl from Target last Friday (the Target version has alternate artwork and 2 additional tracks to the regular version) I played it a few times over the weekend and it really sounds fantastic! Vintage sounding Americana w/ dynamics galore, unlike most of today's overcompressed/overproduced music. Best album in this genre I've bought since Sturgill Simpson's Cutting Grass Vol's I/II. (y) (And this one sounds much better actually)

Those MD441 mics Robert and Alison are using just sound amazing. They really are incredibly focused sound field mics that while top notch studio quality, really show their strongest suit in a live environment. The more potential for bleed, the more isolated the results. They've been around forever and have never understood why they aren't industry standard for live recording for both vocals and instruments like their little brother the MD421. At just 1k per, it's not like they are out of a pro recording budget. Glad to see these unsung heros being used again. Zappa used them a lot, as did Fleetwood Mac.

I have a theory that now includes Alison Kraus. I first developed it watching a Diana Krall show. These women are so beautiful and talented, their genes are skewed. There has to be a trade off somewhere in their lives. I thought maybe Diana Krall has uncontrollable ransid body odor and maybe Alison Kraus does something awful like keeps all her boogers on her steering wheel or something. Otherwise it is unfair they're gifted so.

Ha ha. I know exactly what you mean, and have had similar conversations w/ friends before about other people w/ 10/10 looks/talent, and have come to the conclusion they just HAVE to have horrid toenail fungus or webbed feet or something. :ROFLMAO: But Alison is different. She was already winning fiddle contests at the age of 10. She just happened to grow into a gorgeous woman. Her pure talent far exceeds the field of typical 10/10's.😉

Diana Krall is married to, and has twin sons with, Elvis Costello. Is that considered a "trade off"? ;)

Amazingly, their second album released this past November, "Raise The Roof", is equally as great as their first...

This song is way too big to actually feature anyone. My personal opinion is that almost anyone could've done it, with that big production. So I'll fall back on the earlier stuff. More intimate and more personal and more easily identifiable. So if you like this that's fine. I ..... didn't as much.

I also love how their "Tiny Desk" bits are not tiny desk, but now we've moved to an entirely MUSIC STUDIO venue, which isn't exactly why that whole concept was conceived. If you have enough power and clout, apparently you can influence everything. Sad, tho.....

p.s. - charlie I can see it okay? it's not a country restricted thing. Not sure.

are you talking about the tiny desk? It's the one before that, from post #23, that is now set to private on youtube.
