I would love to hear Alison Krauss do a Zep rock song, not some toned down bluegrassy version.

Check out the vintage gear!

Great song veering into one of the best songs ever. I hear Lucinda Williams doing and never got it out of my head.

That particular song was written by Lucinda Williams, and is part of her excellent "Car Wheels on a Gravel Road" release. And as far as Alison Krauss goes, she could sing the phone book, and I'd be rapt. I adore everything she has done since the first time I heard her in 1990.

Yes sir! I saw her with AKUS, and she was magnificent.

I just would like to hear her stomp on the gas!

Is that JD McPherson, & what guitar is he picking?

Great guitar tone.
Indeed that is JD (one of the best live shows you'll ever see), and Alison's brother Viktor (Lyle Lovett's long-time bassist) to his right. When you're Robert Plant, you sure can put together a great band!

Saw their first tour from the 2nd row at Merriweather....it was simply spellbinding. Vintage fender tweed bliss! Plant being the biggest draw of the bunch humbly took a supporting cast role and the whole night was a pure ensemble effort. I've seen countless shows at Merriweather since the very early 80's, but never have I seen such a quiet crowd making their way through the wooded path back to the parking area. Folks were emotionally drained. Just folks glancing at one another murmuring, "holy shit that was good!" The show I saw also produced the only soundboard recording of the tour which is definitely worth seeking. ;)

One of my absolute fav moments was one of Alison's showpieces, Trampled Rose

And this coming from a huge Zep fan and lifelong collector. (Most Zep fans tend to thumb their noses at this collaboration. Not me. I'm all for Plant staying in the lane that suits his 73 yr old voice best.

Can't wait for round 2 at Merriweather next June 11th. (y) (Ticket presale this fri!)

I love their duo music! I've had the chance for just one focused listen of the new album, which hasn't grabbed me quite like the first one. Their first album had several songs that really stood out for me, I'm hoping the new one develops that as well.

I hear ya. The first one, especially Killing The Blues, was really good. This one sounds to be a continuation of it, but by no means surpasses it in any form. I'm sure it'll grow on me, but most of all the live performances aren't to be missed. They'll likely once again expand on a bunch of tunes they didn't put on either record. TBone picked literally dozens of tunes for them to record....as did Plant and Kraus this time around. I'm sure some likely didn't translate well in the studio, but would be really great live.

I love the fact that Robert Plant's solo career has been an ever evolving trip. As much as I love Jimmy Page, he has been stuck in the past, with essentially no new music for decades.

I agree. A lot of folks blame Robert Plant for the fact that there hasn't been a led Zeppelin reunion. And as much of a Zep fan as I am, I think what he's been doing in his solo career is at least as good, if not better.

And as MUCH of a Zep fan I am....I absolutely agree with you that what he's doing now would be better than any current juke box Bonzoless Zep played by 75 year olds...definitely. But.... nothing he or anyone else from Zep have ever done since 1980 has ever scratched the surface of what that collective 4 could do in their prime.🤟🤘

.....but I might be a tad biased:LOL::LOL::LOL: (welcome to my mancave;))

:D Being a new member here, I said hell with it and just came right out and exposed myself.:LOL:

I'm not one of those "they can do no wrong" Zep fans. I was 35-40 years ago. Too old for that wasted energy. The collecting part has been a part time hobby since around 82. It never stops!! That's just a little bit of the collection.
