Man, I usually play Pete Seeger's song "If I Had A Hammer" the way Trini played it. Do you people know that Pete composed that song in 1949 wihen McCarthyism was at its starting gate. The hammer reference in the song is to the hammer of the hammer sickle insignia of Communism!

Lopez made the big time enough to have his own 335 with diamond F hole, and a 6 inline headstock? Cool guitars. Prob out of the realm price wise now, but I never wanted one, even when they were't all that popular or expensive.

Wasn't it PS who's guitar said "This Machine Klllz F....." I can't say the rest it's too political even now, or especially now, I hope that wasn't crossing over the line.

I'm going to go with Woody Guthrie on that one.

Note that I consider the WG "quote" a statement of fact so I have no problem with alluding to it. What will send this thread to the dumpster will be detailed discussions of WG's politics and/or attempts to apply them to current times.

Discovered by Buddy Holly, and signed by Frank Sinatra to Reprise -- Trini Lopez may be the only thing connecting those two guys!

After Holly died in the plane crash, Trini became the lead singer with the Crickets, something I never knew.

According to the obits, a documentary on Lopez was just completed.

I had three Trini Lopez albums - one was live, if I remember right - then Folk Album and Latin Album. I learned to sing Quando Calienta El Playa by ear and was shamelessly singing it even when there were spanish people around 😅 They did not judge me too hard though.

Fantastic pics guys, thx.

Woodie played a nylon string guitar well ahead of willie it looks like, is that a Martin slothead, or not, the bridge has rounded side?

To veer back on, Trini.

Must have played nylon at some point, but he's most associated with a Gibson Southern Jumbo.

LaBamba may make you emotional, Ray almost didn't sound as good as this...

This is what a power trio sounds like. And that bass.
