Jay was an amazing talent, and I'll always cherish some very fond memories he's left
me forever both on record & onstage at some of the best rock shows I'll ever see. He
was a musical genius with a knack for occasional shenanigans and loads of presence
with Wilco both onstage and off. Unfortunately, I don't think he ever recovered from
getting tossed out of the band. RIP, brother.

He really pushed Jeff to great music. Maybe he pushed too hard, and that's why Jeff pushed him out. But man could that guy play anything. He was a savant musician.

Man, what a loss! I agree that Wilco was more inspiring with him in it. I think the push-pull of different personalities often bears interesting musical fruit. We all know the obvious examples in rock history.

Jay's production genius is what truly added the spit and polish to Tweedy's gems. R.I.P. :(
