That Dobro part in I Found Out is what got me to to buy my first Dobro. Still my favorite break to this day. Several years ago I was able to track down
the guy who was actually a banjo player and told him how much I liked his playing on the song. He said the band asked him if he could play Dobro
and he said "Yeah, a little I guess" and came up with that part off the top of his head. He was surprised I liked it that much.

Got this when he played nearby several years ago. Also, Mom has an autographed Kaleidoscope album somewhere.

Excerpt from a Lindley interview mentioning his Guild 12

"
What other instruments are you going to play during the concert?

DL: I brought two Weissenborn guitars made by Paddy Burgin in New Zealand, which are mind blowing! The quality is just incredible. I’m also going to play an oud made by Dimitris Rapakousios and, of course, I brought my Guild 12-string. Guild actually had it measured recently because they didn’’t have records on these instruments any more. "

In 2007 that would be FMIC Guild. I wonder if they ended up using the measurements for anything.

Since there is a slight veer I've heard stories of FMIC Guild borrowing '60's instruments and taking measurements in the late 90's. I think any story about FMIC/Guild borrowing a vintage instrument and taking measurements is credible. What needs more documentation is what FMIC did with those measurements,

Big fan of the music of David Lindley here! I remember first hearing him on Jackson Browne's album "For Everyman". His solo and fade on These Days was my introduction to lap steel guitar. That's probably true for a lot of folks. Got the chance to see him on tour with JB in the mid-seventies. He was truly a gifted multi-string instrumentalist. He will be missed! RIP

Here he is playing with Ry Cooder on an old R&B standard.
