I had a D-12 20 for a while (it was stolen from my sons apartment), and the F-212 was all over it, soundwise., at least to my ears.

Aside from every guitar being different - I’ve owned a few D12-20s and a few F212s. I think they are different. The Martins are more boomy w more overtones, but also have a more “cohesive” sound, maybe even thinner/brighter in the top - which I think works better in a mix. The Guilds are more punchy and vibey with a thumpy, tight low end, which I think works better for solo singing. Some of this could be dreadnought vs Folk Jumbo, but I don’t think that’s even the biggest difference. Not sure though - every guitar is different of course. The main thing for me is the Guilds were consistently more inspirational and ... mysterious? Ha - hard to explain.

Also the Hoboken Guilds I’ve had seem distinctly different than the Westerlys. I think that ‘68 I had was special partially because it had characteristics of both.
