or at least the start of it. Yesterday I spent the afternoon with a friend who also had gotten both vaccines, first time out of the family socially. I brought my 3 dreads, at least in part to compare with his D28. To our ears, anyhow, the Orpheum 12 fret dread was the pick of the lot. He said the D55 was a lot like his D28 ( I didn't play it, so his judgement call) and my Pawless mesquite somewhere between the others. He was so taken by the Orph that he'd like to get one, so if anyone knows of a 12 fret dread on the market, let me know.

I've had both but still treading carefully. A little less paranoid than before, but still not taking chances. Double masking still - it actually makes my glasses fog up less! I'm immunosuppressed, so COVID would do a number on me. I am respecting it's power over me, but doing enough stuff to stay sane. Waiting for restaurants to serve outside again here in MA, I will be happy to do that again.

Our case numbers down-under are nearly non-existent which is just as well because the vaccination roll-out here is hopelessly slow.

Got my second Pfizer dose today, so I'll probably be a little under the weather tomorrow. Counting down the two weeks to full effectiveness. Got word today that the twice-postponed Dave Mason With Very Special Guest John Mayall concert is now booked for mid-November and it may happen this time. In the words of Paul Westerberg, "first glimmer of light".

Neither my wife nor I had any problems with our Pfizer vaccines, except the to be expected mild soreness at the injection site.

I got the first Pfizer shot on Wednesday and felt like absolute crap the day after, but medicines always affect me more than normal people for some reason. The nurse asked me if I'd ever had reactions to vaccines and I had to think - I can't even remember the last time I had a vaccine. Probably circa 1995 when my iguana bit me and I had to get one for tetanus. I loved that little bastard.

Otto2-shadow.jpg

His name was Otto, and he was six feet long from nose to the end of his tail and we had raised him since he was probably four inches long. We were at the vet's office and a dog came in. Iguanas don't like dogs, so he freaked out, I went to pet him (because that made sense somehow) and he latched unto the webbing between my thumb and fingers and would not let go. I bled a LOT.

The next day I went to a medi-center here in rural NJ and told the receptionist that I wanted a tetanus shot. She asked why and I said, I was bitten by an iguana, to which she replied, "GASP - Around HERE?"

So cool GAD! I also had a large male iguana that I raised from a pup decades ago. I think I got him around 1996. His name was Fenway. Being a RedSox fan I named him after the Green Monster wall. Always loved that fella. He would dewlap (puff up and shake is head) at me in a mild show of dominance, I’d do the same right back. Kind of like saying hello.

I built him a 6x6x2 ft glass enclosure with a large climbing log and ceramic heating at the top. We’d bathe him in the bathtub. He used to ride my shoulder like a parrot when young and would happily climb into my arms to do so. Loved getting his head rubbed and his dead skin plucked from is back “spikes”.

I taught him early on to ride the back of my female Bernese Mtn Dog at the time like riding a horse. He was fine but the dog really didn’t like it. Maybe if they were both young it would have worked better.

The one and only time he ever bit me was when I decided to take him outside on leash. I put him in a smaller portable terrarium and brought it outside for an hour every now and then to get him used to the outdoors. Then one day I put him in his harness and attached his leash. Yes, I’d walk him around on a leash when guests where around. But when I took him outside he freaked and went spastic. I grabbed him to bring him back in and he bit me out of instinct. Not bad but enough to bleed. Never took him out like that again.

I miss that big old green monster.

I too had a big Green Iguana. He has lost a section of tail so was a bit shorter than 6 feet. But a very large beast indeed. I had a few monitors that were nearly as large, but way more aggressive.
I recently rehomed a 3 foot long Green Iguana. I now only have a 2+ foot long Black Spiny Tail Iguana. He doesn't like any close communication! I also have two turtles. One is my Chinese Box Turtle, Sherman, that I have had for over 40 years now.

A six foot lizard. I dunno. How much does a six foot lizard weigh?

I met one in a vet's office, the office pet. His name was Darwin. He was nowhere near six feet, maybe a foot and a half. He was cute enough at his size. I don't know if he would retain his cuteness at six feet.

Back to the original post - damn, here in Michigan we have the top Covid rate in the nation again, hard to believe after the Gov's restrictive policies, but they recently opened a lot of things back up and sent all the kids back to school, whoops!

The turning point has to be soon...

Back to the thread veer... I also had box turtles. One female that went completely berserk chasing the feed crickets we appropriately named Mary Shelly.

And back on track again got the first Pfizer shot last Wednesday morning and just had a sore arm through the evening.

We get the second shot on April 14th.

I really haven't been all that cautious about being in public areas. We moved during Covid and have gone furniture shopping as well as food shopping every week. Dined outside once last Summer and have only been inside a Bar once this Winter. I never wear a mask outside nor in the Office where I've been back to work full time since last August.

And over here in Belgium we're on lockdown again for 4 weeks. My wife got both Pfizer shots already because she works in a hospital, otherwise vaccination seems to be moving pretty slowly over here.

Not particularly looking forward to another gigless summer. 😔

Don and I got the first Moderna shot a week and a half ago. Made us pretty sick for a day and a half. Shot #2 is April 19th. Restaurants and bars here are up to 50% capacity. The shots are fairly easy to get now vs. a month ago. We just signed up at Walmart and got in right away. We're at 65+ now, but i think that's getting lowered very soon. I'm not sure things will ever be the same as before, but they're certainly gonna be better than full lockdown. And apparently you can't trust people to stay home when they're sick. Imagine that??

Got my first Pfizer shot a couple days ago, and also had a sore shoulder for a day afterwards.

No mask for me in a sparsely-populated office, but always when indoors at a grocery store, etc.

Tom, you might have had a stronger-than-normal reaction to the first Moderna shot due to your previous COVID infection.

Pardon me if I missed the irony. Even before Covid I knew people who did not get paid unless they worked and had no reserves to carry them over. So they worked, sick or not.

As for me I get the second Moderna in about a week. All of the people I know who have had reactions had the worst reaction at the second dose. One nurse practitioner I trust says bumping up Vitamin D before the second shot reduces the severity of the side effects. I'll never know if she is right but since I am already taking Vitamin D ("doctor's orders") I can just take a bit more and cross my fingers.
