He should be a household name in the music world...a sad story, a rip by the music industry, and a rip from the public of one tremendous talent....check him out...(by the way check out his Leaving on a Jet Plane...he wrote it) Thank you again You Tube!

A lot of this came off an album recorded back in about 75....Sony didn't release it because they wanted their musicians on it Paul didn't want to change it, and it just sat...he was ripped off and lived a live of obscurity and poverty...Bonnie Raitt and others knew of his talent and he influenced them heavily...at that time.....the Album was finally released in around 2001 I think....Paul was very sick in his later years....and left a huge musical legacy including teaching himself to Throat Sing...traveling to Tuva...and getting respect and acknowledgment for it in the land of Throat singing.....the man is one of my Heros..Steffan
Here are a couple of clips from Ghengis Blues...which you should watch if you ever get the chance...It a straight up filming of the trip by his rag tag friends of an amazing journey.....

Back in the day, we had a mutual friend, a brother of one of our close friends went to the school for the blind with Paul. I always hoped to get a chance to jam with him, but it never worked out. I was bummed out when I learned about his death, great talent under appreciated, to say the least.

You mean "Jet Arliner" that Steve Miller had a hit with, right? I think John Denver wrote "Leaving on a Jet Plane".

Thanks again Steffan for enlightening me to another wonderful musician. His work was awesome. Something about the 60's and early 70's music was very moving to me. I don't get that same feeling nowadays except from some christian artists, most of the other stuff really seems very quaint .
So you say he was taken advantage by the music industry. how so?

It was Jet Airliner....he wrote....and the album he made in 73 wasn't released for 27 years basically because Sony music didn't want it so soulful....or something...Paul had assembled some great musicians, and that album should have been a milestone.... he was respected by all the big time greats at that time...and was screwed by the industry because he was under contract.....so couldn't play out.....check out some of the google info....I should have known about him in the 70s not 30 years later....he was a huge brilliant musician....and we do owe him a lot of
honor.....Steffan

One time Paul was listening to short wave radio late at night, and heard what he thought was interference....only to find out it was Tuvan throat singing....he went to his friends music store, and found out about this obscure country and their throat singers....he then taught himself Russian and Tuvan to understand the language, there was no dictionaries for English/Tuvan but there was from Russian to Tuvan.....all this from a broken down poverty ridden musician with few if any resources....Get a copy of Genghus Blues...Amazon has it....Steffan

My brother turned me on to his throat singing adventures. What an astounding talent. Making it in the music business is often not about music at all. This was one amazing musician.
