So, a friend of mine in the Detroit area is one of the finest finger pickers I've ever heard. He is superb. I used to do some vocals with him back in the day. I also tried to play a little guitar with him as well although he was far superior to me.
I hadn't heard from him in years but just a couple weeks ago he called and said he'd picked up this Recording King model and it was surprisingly good, especially for finger pickers and that it was really inexpensive.
It's a 0 sized Parlor Guitar with Sitka top and Mahogany B&S. It has a Fishman soundhole pup which I haven't tried yet. I'll tell ya, it produces quite a bit of sound for such a small bodied guitar. I won't tell you I like it better than my F 20 or M 20 but for $170 or so it's pretty impressive.
I have this one sitting right next to my laptop and pick it up whenever an idea pops in my head or to try and play along on a utube clip or whatever. It's so small and easy to handle. It makes it ideal for a situation like that. I haven't tried the pup yet but that's a nice feature as well. It did not come with a case/gig bag but I'm pretty sure I have something here that will work.
It apparently comes in this black, a sunburst and a gray. I've never had a gray guitar before and thought that might be fun but the Musicians Friend SDOTD only offered it up in black so I nabbed it. Here's a few pics.
