I wrote about it - about two years ago - can't find it anymore - so here goes.
Back when I was younger - I wanted to have a solidbody 12-string with 24 frets free of body - why? - do not ask - anyway - I have this friend who is building guitars -
http://www.flyingfinnguitars.fi/f_front.html - so I designed that would meet my needs - one of them being it would fit in Les Paul Protector case - because I had one . . .
So I started with piece of carton and cut it to fit the case - then I placed tuners to shape the headstock - then I measured the place of bridge - and I wanted a vibrato tailpiece in Fender style - when all parts were in I finally draw the outline. Because of limited space and 24 frets free there was only one single-coil pickup. But that was all I needed. One good sound - why change it . . .
I brought the carton template to his workshop and he hung it on his wall to wait. Eventually I got my guitar - only to find out 35 years later, that it went to a gig with another guy before I ever saw it - he had another made - still uses it. My guitar - I used it some - but still not as much as acoustics - and eventually it was left behind in MN - I have tried to write to Pete @ Lavonne Wageners - but he never answeres.
Back to Finland - when the carton model was hanging on the wall - some of Matti's customers were looking at it and wanted to have 6-string versions with two humbuckers. So he made some - turns out to be 3 - learned that about year ago - he shifted the neck more towards the body to accomodate space for two pups - and he changed the headstock to his then regular shape.
I first saw this guitar in a good but somehow a bit wonky musicstore maybe 15-20 years ago. It was hanging on the wall with other guitars. I did not pay too much attention, because I thought by then, that there were lots of those around.
Then on october 10th 2018 I visited that musicstore again - saw the guitar there and started to talk with the owner - we knew since forever - so I told him about the background of this guitar and he was thrilled - I took it outdoors and took some pictures on the lawn with autumn leaves.
Two days later I took some pictures here at home - and put one - or more? - here on LTG.
Now to why I call his store a bit wonky - when you go in and see something that interests you - you normally ask how much it is - but instead of answering straight he goes into this "how much would you pay?" - or other similar - naturally not with basic stuff like strings, stands, etc. But there are some neat guitars - like the Yamaha "Doctor Who Model" . . . And they have been there for decades. So it is very hard and/or complicated to have business with him, when it comes to anything that's not an everyday item.
So I brought in my D125 with hard shell case and proposed a trade - after all this Nuuska/Matti had been unsold over 20 years - not likely to move fast. He allowed me to take the guitar home - but he is still contemplating. Meanwhile I can not really do anything I'd like to change on this guitar - some fine tuning would propably be ok - but I detest the looks of the bridge, and would like to have something more elegant.
Long story - finally some pictures.
