Since we can now update our signature I thought I'd do like a lot of you do and list all my Guilds.

Too much?
I felt like time just slowed down for a while there when I was scrolling and when I hit the bottom, my beard was full and gray. That's just AMAZING!!! Now I gotta go shave this Gandalf beard off........ whew!!

I think you need to add an image of each Guild as well.

If you've been paying attention you'd see I am getting there, although I am spreading them among various threads to reduce the overload. (I have photos of them all but you can only post 10 in a thread!)

Now if we could have that signature be an Excel worksheet . . . . . . . .

Well the text was copied from an Excel Spreadsheet!

I thought about limiting signatures to only a few lines, maybe even 10 (long sigs disrupt page-flow and cause people to turn them off), but I figured no one would need a limit. Now I know why there's the capability for a limit. :)

I've actually been toying with moving mine off-site and putting a link in my sig because the list of gear messes with search results. Back wen I was on Head-fi they wouldn't let gear lists in sigs for that very reason.

Is there a way to exclude (or include) signature contents when searching? I personally would like the option of choosing, since there are situations where it would be helpful to include them, and others where it would not.

It is also fun to see what models other members have.

Not that I know of.

Yes, that and it's simply easier to list my website at the bottom of my posts and let people browse around it than listing everything in a signature.

GG I do enjoy your website and the details on the different guitars. Amps are not a big draw for me but I do spend some time looking up the Martins and Guilds and all of the others!! Thanks for the link.

I notice that when I look at my "Account", under the Preferences, there is a Content Options section. One of the options is "Show people's signatures with their messages". I like seeing what instruments other members have in their collections, so I have this box checked. But, I'm thinking that for those that don't like to continually see people's signatures, they could opt out with this button.

There are also a lot of cool options for receiving alerts about messages a member has posted or is following... or not to, if you choose!

SOME sigs I do want to see. Up to like 8 to 10 if you can fit them into 4 lines or so. Beyond that it's too much and it would be nice to have access to them but not be subjected to them in normal forum browsing, you know? I mean, some people will wear out your scroll function.....

Why is it that any time I find an old LTG link in a Google search I can no longer access it?
(even under Chrome).
I get the old "Webpage cannot be found" error, and the 404 not found in Chrome)
It used to be my preferred method of finding old threads.

You want the technical answer or the short answer?

Short answer: Because it's broken and I haven't figured out how to fix it yet.

Let me know if you want the long answer.

Much as I'm unused to such brevity, short answer works.

Hey GAD,

Can the search function be set up to accept Boolean or some other search conventions? When I put in multiple search terms, it seems to treat them as “OR,” so the results are usually much larger than desired.

Thanks.

Multiple words should be received as (more or less) AND. if you want to force boolen-type responses, try this where searching for two terms guild and newark:

OR: guild | newark
AND: +guild +newark
Exclusion: guild -newark
Specific string: "guild newark"

I can't guarentee that they'll work the way you want, but that comes from a xenforo developer so hopefully it's useful.

That said, there are a lot of complaints on the xenforo forums that the search engine should be more robust. There are some addons to do just that, but they all seem to require java which I am not a fan of and so I'm not likely to install them.
