The technical answer is that it must not be inserted as a thumbnail. If you insert it as the entire image it should work which is why using the img code works. You don't need to resort to code to do that, though - just look at the attachment icon after drag/dropping:



If you only see "insert" then click that and then the two choices will appear.

Got it, thanks! I went back and edited the post and selected full image. It's animating now (cue "It's alive, it's alive!").

Is there the one feature I need, a prompt that says, hey dummy, you've already replied to this thread half a dozen times, are you sure you want to tell the same story a third time?

Can someone explain what happened below? I think there’s some sort of feature that I just don’t know about. I was replying to a thread, and this “Review selected messages” popup appeared. Does anyone know what triggers this popup?

The message (from 6L6) that I’m apparently "reviewing” wasn’t in the thread I was replying in, and I don’t recall doing something special when I was in 6’s NGD thread a couple of days ago.

That’s an “insert quote” window. At some point you had selected that message as a possible quote reply (+quote button) and then you hit “Insert quotes” which only appears if you have done that previously. Note that this feature works between posts, threads or even sessions.
