Along the lines of you CAN teach an old dog new tricks:

I just discovered that if I highlight/select text in someone's post, I get a "reply/quote" popup which is a real shortcut for hitting the reply button and then editing the quotation! NEAT!!. E.g., below, where I highlighted a little piece of GG's cookie post above:

I use that a lot, it's a convenient time saver! Now if I could just remember how to do multi-quote replies...

Question...when I reply to a thread, the function bar or whatever just above this text box doesn't work. How do I turn it on?

Good question, effin. I don't know why the software defaults to this mode, but it's easy... Just click on the "toggle BB code" icon (two square parens).

It doesn’t default; it gets tapped by accident. Super easy to do and drives me crazy.

These days everything I tap gets screwed up. My old Logitech mouse has served well over the years. I've had like 3 of them. This one is worn out and I hit the left button and it either doesn't work, or it's a double click and I end up in all kinds of trouble. Bought a new one that wan't new. They call them refurbs or something. I forget but thought I was doing well to save $15!! The thing wouldn't initialize and then finally it did, and worked well for exactly 32 hours, then just quit never to work again. So I went to Whole Foods in the pouring rain yesterday to return it to Amazon and today I order a NEW one!! It'll be here by tomorrow. Until then, lots of new windows opening and stuff I didn't want to happen.

Three things I never cheap out on computer-wise: keyboard, mouse, and monitor. They are what interface you to the machine and they can make or break the experience.

I'm good with my MacBook. :) Personally, I much prefer the Apple trackpad to a mouse, Tom. Have you ever tried one? I don't know if they work on PCs.
Don't forget a nice chair for the butt-machine interface. And speakers. Nice ones.
"butt-machine" interface. I like that. Sounds more like a toilet seat than a chair though. And, at that, I stop my blathering... ;)
