I have seen bridge posts like this

And I was thinking if you put some washers between that flange and bridge, you can raise the bridge more than turning the screw up to point where there's only one turn left. 3/16 of an inch is more than needed to keep the bridge in place.

From the photo in post #5, it looks like the inserts that are set into the guitar body are threaded and that there's a fixed length of unthreaded post that the bridge fits onto, just like what Nuuska posted above. You can lift the bridge off of the posts and add a spacer (i.e. washers) between the bridge and the post. There will still be plenty of post holding the bridge in position. This should allow you to raise the bridge higher without running out of threads.

My eyes might be deceiving be, but that looks like ABR-1, not Nashville.

Update -- thanks for all of the advice. One thing I should say is that my eyes had deceived me. There was plenty of room on the Bridge posts thread. I had to get reader glasses on and increase the light to see I had been fooled by dust and reflections.

Secondly, this guitar had some other issues (frets 3 and 5 were high, pickup installed a bit wonky) so it went back. I am waiting for it's replacement to arrive (should be today) and then I will have much more to post on this.

If nothing else, I have learned a lot! Thanks everyone!
