Interesting. If the implication that the factory is overseas is correct then this is evidence that there is some US based setup and inspection prior to shipments to dealers. At one point there was evidence that a box arrived at a dealer and if the customer picked up an unopened box, they were the first person to touch the guitar since it left the factory. This was often the explanation for some of the easily caught and fixed Newark Street quality issues showing up on customer's guitars.

Like that blue.

Here's my favorite blue guitar (it's also my only blue guitar).
Everyone should own at least one guitar in blue!

I believe that this is now CMGs standard routine to inspect and set-up each Cordoba and Guild instrument in Oxnard that comes from Asia. You also can see in the second picture Cordoba ukuleles in the lower rack.

That makes perfect sense and could be expected. Like many things I remember hearing the complaints but not the concrete steps being taken to resolve them.

^ Amen. I guess they are listening. That's GREAT news.

FYI, while New Hartford never QC'd the MIC/MIK Guilds, they did do Epiphones for Kaman. It's kind of interesting.

In any case, I think this is a great development with Cordoba!

I’m guessing it must have been some other brand besides Epiphone.

Gibson has owned Epiphone since 1957.

It's even got a 1-11/16 nut width.

Yes, first thing that occurred to me, too.
As you mentioned, under Fender none of the imported guitars went anywhere but to a Fender warehouse to be divvied out to dealer orders.

Man, that satin blue really looks awful in a casual snapshot. Those satin metallics always look sexy in professionally lit studio photos, but I had a hunch it'd look dry and dull in person and I suspect that's gonna prove true.
