Someone contacted me through Reverb, said her Daddy wants my Dobro, would I contact him? And even though I don't want to shaft Reverb out of a fee, I checked it out, and sure as can be, a scam so worn out and tired, nearly as old as time.

I'll be reporting this to Reverb.

In the meantime, know these are just scams, no reason to bother replaying, you're just giving out your email address to bad people. I used an email address I don't use for daily activities to check it out.

The was the original solicitation:

I am making an enquiry
for my dad and I have sent the pictures you can reach him on his email: ethanbullock43@gmail.com so both of you can discuss purchase thanks .

mail
Bullock Sandra

And the eventual response from bozo who would think this would ever work:

I want to know why you are selling and the
condition it is?. My son is buying it and He will be
using the services of a mover for the pickup ... they will be there on next long haul to pick it up.He will send a cashier's check to cover the cost, please provide me with your

(1)Full mailing address
(2)Name to be on the check
(3)Phone number
(4)Final price

so he can make out the payment check immediately for the final price. Please do delete the ad,the pick up will be made after the check has
cleared in your bank.I will wait to read from you. thanks.

Hahaha, lol "I want to know why you are selling" as if it makes the person sound legitimate somehow.

Yeah, I had a similar experience yesterday. The tip off was ‘is the item still available?’, not naming what it was (bass). Also, when I looked on the Reverb website, it said the sender was unable to receive messages. Gee, sounds like a sure thing, right?

I’ve always s thought that if people like these scammers worked that hard at a legit job, they’d be very successful.

it said the sender was unable to receive messages.

Yes, that's the tipoff.

I contacted Reverb. Chat agent kindly offered this person never contact me again.

I said, please make sure this individual can contact no one on Reverb, and they said they were passing it on to a team.

1st time I've had one of these since Reverbing.

We get similar attempts on LTG. Typically a user with a scam on their mind will PM (or start a Conversation) with someone who has posted a FS or WTB. We delete/ban the user when the mods hear about it.
