Hello Again. UPS picked up the F212XL for delivery to the "Damage Clerk." (Great name for a band, BTW)

Anyway, since there is a possibility that I might end up with this guitar, I wonder about the viability of any repair to this crack. It seems to me that its broken in an area that is critical to the structure of the guitar, especially with the 12 string tension.

So what is the verdict. If the crack is re-glued and properly cleated, will it be structurally sound? Or wll I have to be a bit concerned that its always going to be a little "off" and psooibily let loose again some day at the slighted bump?

Ouch... :(

IMHO you can get that crack repaired - if it's cleated (and glued?) I'd bet you'll have no further problem with it. I have a 6 string GF25 that has a crack in about the same area (along with another crack around the side of the lower bout) and even though it had been repaired sloppily w/glue, no cleats, etc. it is entirely stable.

Obviously you want a good luthier to do it, but I don't think it will be a real problem if done well. YMMV...
