Every now and then ATT decides that my server should be blocked for reasons that they never share with me. When they do this, AT&T, SBC, Outlook.com, and a host of other email services stop working for any of my domains, including LTG.

That translates into new users being unable to receive confirmation emails, so it's my hope that the couple of new users that I've received from (that I cannot reply to) see this while I try once more to get AT&T to stop doing this.

Usually this gets cleared up in a couple of business days after I submit the removal request, so here's hoping.

I assume then that AT&T is your ISP. Is it the amount of traffic or the number of simultaneous sessions going to your IP?

I know, they won't say. I love Tech "Lack of" Support.

AT&T is not my ISP. They are blacklisting only emails from my server.

Pretty much all ISPs do this, but AT&T is the absolute worst right up there with Microsoft. They both do it but never inform the domain admin, and when you complain they never tell you why.

Both of them use blacklisting services like Spamhaus and I’m not listed on any of them.

I’ve been a network architect for 40 years (Since Thicknet on Vax) and ran the engineering department for an ISP in the ‘90s. The sad truth is that when it comes to email today, if you’re not running gmail or a Microsoft service you’re guilty by default of being a spammer.

I must say I’ve not had this particular problem with Google yet, though. Still, all of my nerd friends with similar backgrounds have given up running their own domains and just use gmail.

This just in:

Thank you for contacting the AT&T Postmaster.

The mail-server IP address(es) associated with your request will be removed from the block list within 24-48 hours from the date of this
letter.
