I don't post here often as I mostly lurk and get information. I had read a couple months ago that The GAD guitars were going up in price per factory instructions. I've had two GAD guitars in the last year and they were pretty sweet for a Chinese build. Paid right around $500 for each of them and sold them for about the same. I keep an eye on Ebay just for sport. Have you seen the prices lately on most of the GAD guitars being offered? Jeez...Louise did I miss something? Oh well, these sellers provide me with anal entertainment :p

Hey Hudley, I have noticed that the prices on eBay seem to be quite inflated for the GADs, I mean you can get some Westerly's and Tacoma's for what some of the "auctions" have been.

Which GADs did you have and can you compare them to anything else?

Hey Graham,

I had a GAD F30R, which sounded okay and played good for me because of the 1 3/4" nut. I kept it for about a month and moved it. Had lots of rosewood overtones and I could not control them when I strummed with any attack. To me, the tone was not balanced and would get lost in itself. Also had a GAD F40P (12 fretter) which played as easy as any Taylor, sounded great (very balanced) with a pick or finger picking, and was the loudest finger picked acoustic I have had to date. I sold it and bought it back again....then resold it locally because I am a "snob" and can afford an American built Guild. I would buy another one if the price was right

Yeah, most of the GAD's are way overpriced IMO. Surely the sellers relize they are nothing but cannon fodder at the moment. Only thing that worries me is when the new Guilds out of CT make it to the market.........Will they be overpriced per FMIC dealer pricing?

A lot of what you're seeing is "MAP"(minimum advertised price) pricing by authorized dealers on new product. It's the rules of the game if your going to do business with most manufactures.

Understand Bing, that is what I meant in my last post " FMIC dealer pricing". Makes me worry somewhat about the new American built CT Guilds due out soon. Hope the factory does not do the same deal with pricing on them. I doubt dealers are selling very many GAD's at the prices their being forced to ask. I may be wrong. I know I would not pay those prices for a Chinese guitar, no matter how well they are built, or sound for that matter. I could be the odd man out.

There was a 12% increase almost across the board both GAD and American in September. The Americans had not seen an increase for at least 36 months. We should receive new price sheets in the first couple of weeks of the new year if the product is in the production plan.
Available or not we usually get pricing before the NAMM show.
Production in Tacoma was already shutting down when we received the increase in Sept. so that may set the price on the New Hartford product.
They will only price part numbers planed for production allowing for orders to be taken at or round the winter show.
I expect some information in the next 2 weeks that will give me some indication of what they plan to build over the next 6-8 months.

?

There's a Tacoma DV6 at Music 6000 in Olympia. It's been there for a while, not the prettiest Guild I've seen, plays & sounds great, factory new w/warranty.
Priced at $788, this week 10% off, net $709 + tax. Seems a friendly price for a good quality US built guitar.
