'51? I thought Guild didn't even exist until 1952. Hans' book says production was announced in April, 1953. Anyway, whatever it is, it appears to be in very nice shape. At least in a cursory inspection.

By the way, it looks like a Savoy X-150 to me. What do you think?

Then the seller must have the year wrong. His basis for calling it a 1951 was apparently this quote
from the ad:

"There was a 2 pickup model version identical to this back in a 1952 catalog I found on the net but I forgot the model."

You're right. I looked up the X-150 Savoy and it is the closest match to this guitar.

Hello everybody,

The 'Silvertone' engraving in the truss rod cover is not original and the pickguard might be a repro but other than that it's an original X-300 from 1953. It probably left the factory after the X-300 was already discontinued because it has some of the hardware that became standard on the X-150, which followed up the X-300.
