Hi all,

Quick question - what value pots and caps would work well for tone and volume for HB1s and Franz pickups? Would the usual recommendations for humbucker work for HB1s, and single coil values for the Franz?

The reason I ask this is because I'm using a harness from a '70s Guild (forget which model) for two HB1s, but one of my pickups is a Franz, and the tone pot doesn't work so well with the Franz - instead of rolling back the treble, it rolls back the treble a little but also decreases the volume. Wondering if there's another pot and capacitor combo I can try out.

Thanks!

I've used 500k pots and 0.022uF caps with HB1's and been happy with the result. I have no experience with the Franz's...

The tone control problem sounds like a shorted capacitor to me, or possibly one with an insanely high value. Try replacing it with a 0.015 and see what happens

I put 500K on Franzes too. All depends on how bright you want things. I wouldn't go with all 250K, but I like things twangy. It's easier to dial out some treble than it is to conjure up treble that isn't there.
