Interesting reading Steffan. As astonishing as the subject matter is, the authors/publishers cut the credibility out from under the article with their final paragraph:

"British scientists have uncovered up to eight million mummified dogs, thought to have been sacrificed to Anubis, the god of the dead, 2500 years ago after excavating tunnels in the ancient Eygptian city of Saqqara."

The juxtaposition of the origins of Christianity :D and the ancient Egyptian practice of sacrificing and mummifying dogs  is a little bone-rattling  :? ; an editorial interest in shocking the reader and not so much in being informative?

As for the poor dogs: If they didn't count all the stuffed doggies, how did they know there were that many? ".... Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire. And though the holes were rather small, they had to count them all ..." JPGR

I'm on the skeptical side too...something just ain't adding up..where'd the lead come from?
Also, it's the Daily Mail, I mean isn't that like the role model for our own "National Enquirer"?
You know, "His son is working for the Daily Mail, it's a steady job, but he wants to be a PAPERBACK WRITER..."

I'm afraid I'm on the skeptical side too. Sometimes they say they were found 5 years ago then the guy says they were in his family for over 100 years. There is an eau de $ in this. Although that's what they said about the Dead Sea Scrolls ...

Good morning ltgers. It's all an interesting read, however, I had a difficult time getting past the first images. That art work on the tablets were done so well, and preserved equally as well ; it just led me to speculate a forgery .
These wouldn't happen to be the same scientist who forged the global warming papers

TOUCHE! Although I do have a genuine intellectual interest in the historical record, and new finds are always interesting, especially if they can be validated.

Yeah, I'm fascinated by ancient history and especially Egyptology. Its amazing how advanced their cultures were in so many ways. And it would be pretty cool if this piece were determined to be authentic. I'm sure it will be subject to intense scrutiny by the archeological and religious communities before they make any claims either way as to its authenticity. There are a lot of questions...

That's what we want to know...I heard the guy interviewed and he didn't sound like a flake at all...he pointed out the encroaching greed factor surfacing in the current 'owner'...also mentioned some overlapping content with the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were discovered in around 1945, some of which mirror the Bible very closely...all very interesting......and points somewhat to authentic antiquities...Steffan
