So this gem of a twin reverb showed up and I have a fella supposedly coming to pickup my 79 Mesa boogie. Tomorrow or the next day 5355DD51-96ED-49AE-BA6E-0F45365D6702.jpeg4E03E56A-50E6-40B9-8B51-E47211A019F4.jpeg

That’s a loud one. Is demand still strong for amps this powerful?

Twins rule! You did good. Looks to be in fine shape.
they sound great at a low volume. The 2 12” speakers fill a room with sound without being loud. If you want loud, it does that, too And heavenly reverb!
I have a Pro Reverb, not as powerful, but same ballpark, I use it with a standup bass and an unmiked harp player in our rehearsal space, and nobody complains about it being too loud. Plus, it sounds wonderful.

I will be terribly disappointed if he doesn’t show

Nothing sounds like a Twin. I think 74 would put it before the 135w ultralinear model - also great sound but I preferred the 85w version. Traded my 72 for a Martin D17sm, but still miss it a bit. Enjoy!

Since we have Fender tube amp guys around - any experience with the new 68 Custom Pro Reverb ?

Seems like perfect amp - once you add tilt legs.

The fella that wants my amp ended up working late. He’s a good three hour drive so it would have been better part of 10 pm when he would have gotten here. So more waiting. They are doing a roof down his way

My friend doesn’t like it . He said they are nothing like a real pro. Sadly a few years back I missed out on real pro for $1100 cad . That’s more than what buddy wants for the twin

I think making it one channel is a great idea, nobody uses that left channel anyway. Construction and parts-quality wise though, I prefer pre-1980 Fenders, they were built to last and to be fairly easy to repair. The current ones aren't.

My buddy who works at local music store ordered one after I spoke to him about it. Hope he lets me peek inside. I know that there are two pc-boards - I'm fine w that as long the components are "real" and not those tiny surface-mount thingies. A tube amp is something I'd like to be able to fix in case needed. Anyway I'm going to check it out w my Nightbird when it arrives.

My amp tech, a very knowledgeable, experienced guy, will not work on new Fender amps. These were not designed to be repaired easily, like older fenders.
He turned my Pro Reverb into a 2 channel amp with vibrato and Reverb on both channels. I he Normal channel is now. More tweed sounding channel, and very useable. Not very expensive to do, either.
Do yourself a favor and get a vintage one.

I have old silverface Vibro Champ - great little amp at home - would love to have spring reverb in it - actually have short tank in vinyl pouch . . . so the vintage area is covered - only too small for performing w band.

plus there is plenty of info in internet of how to modify various Fender amps - so there's always the option of getting the new 68 Custom Pro Reverb - and tweak it to perfection - as long the components are visible 😂 - and as long there are no semiconductors there beside the rectifier.

Those old Twins are lovely beasts. I used to gig a '73 with a pair of JBL E-120s. However, I hated huffing that thing up and down stairs -- geez! Tons of heavenly headroom and beautiful Fender cleans, though. I guess it also depends on what kind of music you're playing and venue size. My '76 blackfaced SF Deluxe and '83 Rivera Super Champ are enough for me nowadays.

I hope this deal comes through for you!

The ones built after the 90’s on PCB look about as cheap as you can get away with before getting eaten alive by warranty returns.
