to introduce myself. I'm a man of no wealth and questionable taste. But one thing I pride myself on is my taste in guitars. I am the original owner of a 1972 Guild F-212 and a most exquisite 1976 Guild F-50R and I found this site by accident while searching for some info on my instruments. It is a pleasure to find so many people interested in one thing that gives them so much joy. I will post some pictures once I figure out how to do that. Thanks for letting me on board. (Pix are further down thread)

Welcome to LTG, loozblooz. Look forward to seeing your pictures when you can post 'em.

Definitely a lot of passion around here for all things Guild. Welcome, again!

Thank you ladies and gentlemen (sic) for the warm welcome and the pic help. I think I got it. Let me explain something (besides being an idiot in doing anything more technical than using a calcutator). I am aware the 212 does not come with dot markers. In 1980, I personally drove the two guitars to Westerly to have some work done. When they were sent back to me in NJ, I discovered the tech had taken it upon himself to put in the markers while he did the neck reset. C'est la vie.

How cool is that....They love our Guilds as much as we do.... What guage of strings were you using...seems soon to need a reset..:D :D Steffan

I was using light guage strings. I think it had more to do with the fact that we lived in the frigid climate of Vermont for several years

HI LOO! Welcome aboard! That's how I found this place too. I think it's actually cool the dot markers were at least installed by Guild during a warranty repair. At least you got documentation for it, now it's a rare documented one-off! I can sympathize with "C'est la vie" though 'cause I'm a "factory stock" kind of guy myself.

welcome loozblooz
I can totally relate to that loozblooz. I would fit in at a jimmy buffet concert if I took my stuffed parrot. I too have a hankering for Guilds and the related GAS (and it's various puns, especially those related to smelly foods) don't worry, you'll learn all about GAS here.
Actually, thats exactly how I found this site too...I was looking for info on my B301 about a year and a half ago. LTG has a really great group of guys and gals here ready to help you out.

Welcome to the neighborhood LB! Nice Guilds you have there. Your F-50R is the same year as my D-25M, except yours was the top of the line and mine was at the bottom. Both are still darn nice guitars after 34 years :D

Beautiful guitars, definitely confirming your good taste  and great story about the 212 which comes to show what a special place the great folks of Westerly were running...
Welcome and enjoy the site!
