I have developed a script where I can grab an image from Photobucket and remove the obnoxious watermark. For example:

78e6e366-eeb4-44b5-8592-809c27f49d9a_zpsuhsujdpr.jpg

Becomes this:

index.php

In fact, I did it to all the pics in this thread: https://letstalkguild.com/ltg/index.php?threads/1994-crossroads-cr01.184157/#post-1671929

I'm telling you all this because if you happen to stumble across old pics of yours on LTG and you find that the watermark is gone, it was me and the pic is now stored on the LTG server so that Photobucket can't ruin the Internet, or at least my little corner of it.

Why did I pick on Krysh's pics? Because I'm writing about my CR01 and I'm linking to that thread and the watermarks pissed me off. :)

I should also advise that this is not an automatic thing, and it's kind of a PITA to use (and right now can only be used by me and for one image at a time), but I just wanted to be open about what I was doing.

Very cool and interested in the script (as a guy who makes his living
deeply reliant on Illustrator and Photoshop)!

BTW, on mobile (Safari) I only see a small square where the watermarkless photo should be. But then I figured it out - you have to be logged in to see it. So I guess that means that "guests" will not see the watermarkless pic.

Dear Mr. GAD

I am writing on behalf of my client, Photobucket LTD and asking you to cease and desist in your defacement of material hosted, and in some cases owned, by Photobucket.

This had nothing to do with the image itself - it was a Guest rights issue which I've now fixed.

Is it just me but I'm not seeing a watermark on the first pic. They both look the same!

OK, that's weird. I first looked at this on my phone and there was no watermark. Now I'm looking at it on my computer and there is a watermark!

Anything to thwart the EVIL that is Photobucket is good with me!! When I joined I needed to post photos and I randomly chose ImageShack and boy am I glad that I did. I do pay them a small amount of money every year to host them for me, but now things have changed here so, does that mean that way older photos are hosted here now? Or just the ones since the changeover?

The only photos that are hosted here are ones that someone has put here. If you posted something five years ago as a link to ImageShack, then it remains a link to ImageShack.

I'm only manually changing old PhotoBuckets posts as I come across them because they ruin my browsing experience. ;)
