For those of you having issues, please list in this thread the size of your images both in pixels and file size.

For example:

5D3_2965.jpg - 5805x3736 - 2.1MB

Will do as soon as I get a chance to access the home computer - Thanks for taking a look at this!

GAD - Here's what it says on my Starfire III photo that was previously loaded successfully:

JPG File
2848 x 4288
5.74 MB
5880 KB

The camera used was a 12mp Pentax DSLR.

OK, so after doing some reading I misunderstood how the software works, and my previous statement is inaccurate.

While the file size and pixel size limitations do exist, they are actually what the site converts the images *to*, not what they need to be before hand. That's seriously cool, but more importantly adds credence to the idea that your very large image worked at one time.

If you give me the actual file name I can look and see if I can find where it was posted to see if I can see what's up.

I believe this is fixed. This image is 16.6MB and 5474x3079 on my hard drive:

Here's what's happened, and you may or may not like the answer. :)

In order to upgrade to XenForo (the new software) I also had to upgrade from PHP (a programming language) 5.0 to 7.0, and recently from 7.0 to 7.2. When I upgraded PHP, some key server-side configurations were lost such as this gem:

Code:
#upload_max_filesize = 2M
# Changed by GAD to 50M.
upload_max_filesize = 50M

There are others, but the limit used to be 50M (for reasons other than LTG) and when I upgraded PHP it reverted back to 2M. So that's all fixed.

Here's where you may not like the answer: Since PHP had to be upgraded to 7.0 for XenForo to work, those limits were never in place on this version of LTG, so while some images may have dragged and dropped just fine (I was wrong about that), there should not have been a change where a certain file worked and then didn't. Of course I was wrong about the other thing so who knows, and the long and short of it is that it should all work now, so have at it and let me know if it's resolved.

The coolest part about all of this is that you should be able to drag almost any damn photo you choose from either your PC, Tablet or Phone and it should work. Do let me know if that's not the case.

Note that the 2000x2000 and 2MB limits are still in place but it means something different than I initially thought. If you upload a huge image and the system cannot convert it to a file smaller than 2MB, then you will get an error. I may be able to tweak those numbers as time goes on now that I have a better understanding of what they actually mean.

Also, as an aside, the XenForo documentation SUCKS. :)

I found where I last posted the Starfire III pic. It was in an Archtop/Hollowbodies thread started last month on 5/12/20 & titled “School me on modern, USA Starfire III.”

My post in the thread is #11 & dated 5/15/20. It’s the sunburst 1997 Starfire III with a swapped out harp tailpiece (replacing the Guildsby).

A link would have been simpler. :) Here's the link for those following along at home: #11

That image was compressed down to ~340k, so the issue you were having was not related to a XenForo configuration since it's well within the 2MB resize limit in place since I installed.

GAD - I’m away from the computer now, but will try to post the pic later tonight - so please check back tomorrow & I’ll let you know if it worked. Btw, sorry about the text instead of a link, but even that is beyond me!

Many thanks again for trying to figure this out.

This is the image I had trouble with - I am posting the "thumbnail" option. It works fine now - thank you, Sensei GAD!

Beautiful guitars, Walrus!

And yes GAD, everything seems to be working just fine again. Your efforts are very much appreciated!

As another test pic, this is my 1974 F-40:

Sweet! This is a size that it would not accept before. (I usually post with the "Thumbnail" setting so you can see the whole photo without scrolling, this is "Full image".
