Anybody headed to the Philly guitar show this weekend?

Looks like I'll be going Sunday. I'll be wearing my maroon Guild T-shirt. Stop me and say hello!

Might make an appearance, I don't have anything scheduled on Sunday.

Had something going every night this week - Wednesday was Chris Isaak (great show) and tonight is Cheap Trick and Squeeze (yay!).

They played here at Radio City Music Hall on Tuesday. I would have gone as I love Squeeze. Cheap Trick makes me want to hurl, though. What a profoundly odd double bill. Some of the dates are Cheap Trick and Blondie too; Seeing Debbie Harry now would be downright horrifying.

Not wanting to derail the thread, but I can't figure it out either. The concert was a thankyou from a friend I'm helping get through college and we both agreed that it was an odd bill. Squeeze was killer, but only played an hour. I would have rather heard a full concert from them and skipped CT.
I guess I wasn't in the mood for a power trio (basically) this evening.

They were seriously discussing it! Rick Nielson was complaining that he needed a Hamer 7 neck, so he could play mandolin and ukulele too.

<edit> assuming I haven't strangled anybody, I should be there. It'll be strictly a sight-seeing trip, as I'm picking up a Univox UB45 and my music budget needs to be monitored.

Missed Grot! :( Oh well...

Didn't see a whole bunch of Guilds, all told, just the usual craploads of Fenders and Gibbies. Did meet Jay Pilsner and played a very nice D-15 hog 12 string.
Also saw a P-90 Starfire III for a grand - I was sorely tempted, but I have to move some stuff before I can entertain any thoughts of adding to the stable.
I keep telling myself, "You're a humbucking kinda a guy" and sometime I even believe it.

Sorry I missed ya Steve!

It was a sad day for me. My guitarist and friend from my band sold his black Bluesbird 90! He sold it to Ron Rothman for $750. Then he walked over a couple of aisles and bought his dream guitar; a brand spankin' new '57 Les Paul VOS Reissue Goldtop for $2300!

A few years back he wanted to get a Les Paul with P-90's in it so I had bought the Bluesbird 90 off of ebay and let him borrow it. I thought he might like the light weight of the chambered body. I believe it was a Corona Guild. It had a very chunky neck compared to any Guild I had every played. He played it a little while and we ended up trading guitars. I gave him the Bluesbird and he gave me his F65CE. After a little while longer he decided he didn't like the neck and that the lightness of the body made the guitar neck heavy! Then the straw that broke the camel's back was when I bought over an S-25 I just got off of ebay and plugged it into his '66 Fender Pro Reverb. He loved the sound of the humbuckers! So the search for the Les Paul was back on. It will join the herd with his Gibby 335, Fender Tele and Strat!

We'll find out how it sounds in a band setting this Friday at rehearsal!

If anybody's looking for a near mint Bluesbird 90, see Ron Rothman at Rothman's Guitars! Tell 'em you know how much he paid for it!
